National Rums of Jamaica Limited - Monymusk Plantation Rums

National Rums of Jamaica, Ltd.

 October 25, 2019. Kingston Jamaica

National Rums of Jamaica (NRJ) wishes to advise the public and business community at large that our CEO, Mr. Winston Harrison passed away on October 22, 2019.

Today, the rum community has lost one of its most esteemed advocates.

Mr. Harrison graduated from the University of the West Indies and held a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Financial & Management Services from the University of Wales.

A man of industry, Winston held senior positions in the Food & Beverage (National Sales Manager at Red Stripe, formerly a Diageo Company) and Technological sectors prior to assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer for NRJ since 2017.

Not only was he strongly involved with the running of the Clarendon and Long Pond distilleries, he also had an active role in WIRSPA (West Indies Rum & Spirits Producers’ Association) and was passionate about promoting Caribbean rum worldwide.

Winston was a leader for NRJ: He was heavily involved in the Monymusk brand development and played a key role in the reconstruction of the Long Pond Distillery after a fire ravaged the fermentation hall in July 2018. Above all, Winston was a man of benevolence who cared sincerely for his team.

The NRJ shareholders (the Jamaican Government, West Indies Rum Distillery and Demerara Distillers Limited) and the team wish to express their deepest sympathy and gratitude. We will make sure to remain fully committed to the mission that was so dear to Winston.

Winston is survived by his wife Mrs. Janice Harrison and his two daughters, Justine & Chelsi-Rae Harrison. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
