National Rums of Jamaica Limited celebrates two big wins for the Monymusk Brand from the prestigious Miami Rum Renaissance Festival that was held June 9-10, 2018 at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Centre.
The Rum Renaissance Festival XP Awards sees the yearly participation of hundreds of the most renowned rums from across the globe competing in a total of nine categories.
From the panel of judges who are among the worlds’ experienced Rum Tasting Experts and after three days of blind tasting sessions, the Monymusk Plantation Classic Gold Rum received a Gold Award for being the “Best in Class” in the Category Traditional Aged Rum. The Monymusk Plantation White Overproof Rum received a Gold Award for taste in the Category White Overproof Rum.
“Last year (2017) we won two Gold medals at this event and again we’ve won two Gold medals with the Monymusk Classic Gold Rum repeating its performance. We have exceptional rums which are not only great tasting but also award-winning and have the medals to prove it.” shared Damian Graveley – Commercial Manager of National Rums of Jamaica Limited.
Winston Harrison, CEO of National Rums of Jamaica Limited indicated that “the company has partnered with an overseas distributor and is doing all the necessary preparatory work which will see the products being made available in the United States through a major retail chain before the end of the year.”
He also hinted that “major changes will be coming to the local market as the company is in the process of aligning its distribution with a local player that is well established in spirit distribution across Jamaica. This will see our award-winning products being more readily available across the island for the enjoyment of our customers.”
Mr. Harrison went also stated, “We will be introducing two new expressions this year. One is a two-year-old Monymusk Plantation White Rum that will be available by the end of August. This product will seek to satisfy the needs of the local customers as they currently rely on imports for a product of this nature. The other expression will be announced in late September.”
National Rums of Jamaica is owned by Maison Ferrand, Demerara Distillers Limited and the Government of Jamaica. The company primarily produces bulk rum which is sold internationally, as well as the Monymusk Plantation Rum brand which has six expressions – White Overproof Rum 63% Alc. /Vol., Special Gold Rum Aged Red Rum, Whispering Breeze Coconut Flavoured Liqueur, Platinum Aged White Rum, Classic Gold Five-Year-Old Rum and Special Reserve Rum Ten-Year-Old Rum, all at 40% Alc. /Vol.
